Why Not Give God a Try?
So you don't believe in God, you believe an explosion in the vast darkness of outer space, a mix of hydrogen, helium and radiation among other stuff somehow came together and pow! the world began.
I know I simplified the theory in extreme, I am talking the big bang theory. For as long as the world began there has been arguments which continue today of how we as a people and the world have come to be.
I know what I know to be truth, my faith tells me so. I do not need anything more than the bible to show me the way and to guide me to my future. I have always been a Christian, starting out baptized at birth in the Catholic church because it was what my family did, not that they were devout Catholics, no they were the "go to church on holidays and certain special occasions you know funerals, celebrations, weddings, etc."
But us kids oh no, we had to go to catechism, I hated it, walking to the church on Saturday when all my friends were out playing, God, church, the bible was never explained, we my siblings and I were just born into the tradition which didn't last long. With all the whining and complaining I did I finally got out of catechism after completing my first communion. I guess continuing on to confirmation was just too much work for my parents. In my day completing first communion and then confirmation was the norm, today it maybe different in the Catholic church. Back then I was so happy to end the torture of sitting in a classroom on a Saturday just daydreaming and feeling inadequate when called upon to answer questions for which I had no idea what the Teacher had spoke about.
The one thing I did love about church was the constant fiestas, at Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Oxnard Ca. we had them often and I remember my favorite game was going fishing because you always got a prize. My parents loved the cake walk, which in retrospect should really be called the dessert walk because the table was filled with plates of all kinds of sweets all home made because back then people had time to bake ( sarcasm). We always partook of the chili spiced corn on a stick and left chewing on stalks of sugarcane, mmm love me some sugar cane, so sweet and juicy.
So if you've ever been invited to a church gathering and felt like a fish out of water. I understand, I get it, but hear me out for a little bit longer please.
I don't know about you but for me growing up, I never really thought about how I was made or how I was born or any of life's major questions. I was one of those easily distracted kids, if it was not fun in any sense of the word, I would check out. So I never went searching for any kind of answers because I didn't have any questions or cares. Boy how things change and you realize the could have's, should have's, and the will do's, now in life.
Moving on, growing up experiencing life, the good, the bad, the horrible, struggling here and there, succeeding here and there, throughout it all, having a feeling deep inside you, questions asking, is this it? Is everyday going to be the same for the rest of my life! Get up, go to school, or work, or clean and care for someone or something like a home or parent or child, or just caring for the family, all these things are wonderful! However, even if these things bring you joy and happiness. Which I also have with these things in my life. There is that feeling deep within your soul. You need more in your life, you need to be fulfilled, you can not be sure of exactly what you need, you just need some thing. Maybe you are single and are thinking you need someone in your life and things would feel better, things would be better. Maybe you are wondering if changing your career, or breaking up with someone or some other drastic change in your life might help? Well before you go out and flip your life upside down. ( not to say it would necessarily be a bad thing) here is the " why not"
Please consider this, why not give Jesus a try? It really is not scary, weird, difficult or hard to do. All you do is start talking to him, anywhere, anytime. You can even start with " hello Jesus, this is new to me, I'm not sure of how to do this, but I'm willing to try..." and continue on with what your need is and what you would like to get help with, speak with intention, meaning expect to hear from God. I know, now your asking "but wait you said speak to Jesus, now God is involved!" Yes you are correct, if you are a non believer, you may not be aware that God intends us his children to speak to him through Jesus Christ, but I am saying for now, focus on being open and feeling for Him, because the basis of communication with Jesus Christ our Savior and therefore God is FAITH, that is it, faith is all you need. Of coarse nothing in life is free and neither is your answers given by God.
Ask yourself, what are you willing to give back? How far are you willing to go to be free of torment, free of pain, free of stress, free from having no direction or purpose? Are you willing to have a little faith, say a little prayer? You don't even have to worry about people finding out or being judged by others because when you speak with God it is about you and him having a private conversation.
Wondering what you can promise God? Let me help you with that too, here are some ideas.
- you will read a book about walking in faith with an open mind.
- You will be forgiving of someone who has angered you and mend that relationship.
- you will seek to befriend someone in need.
- you will speak with Him daily.
- you will accept others differences and not judge them even if you do not believe what they believe.
- you will repay your debt to whomever you owe, somehow, someway.
- you will spread kindness and joy to others - share positivity, lift others up.
- you will stop using foul language.
- you will listen to music of faith.
- you will let go of unhealthy habits.
- you will be patient.
Are any of these things too difficult or not worth it for you to live a better life or discover your future?
Not wanting to do anything on this list? Ok then, you get the idea of what God wants in return. What you give to God is your business. My faith tells me He will do the rest if I point you to Him.
The last bullet point is a doozy, "be patient" Being patient isn't always easy but it is a good trait to have and exercise often as the world changes, we can easily lose our self control. Patience helps you stay calm which is always a better way to be..
You need to also be patient with God, His timing is not our timing, what you think you need maynot be what God knows you need. Know this the challenges we face make us stronger, we can grow in our struggles gaining compassion and learning how to trust in our waiting, and during this time, you may not see it but things are happening, things are changing, maybe not as you thought, but things are changing.
So again I ask you, " why not" if you could get a better life, be a happier person, feel healthy, enjoy being uplifted, be a better person. Why not?
You don't believe in all this? What? You feel weird, you're afraid you will be bombarded with " Jesus loving freaks!" Well I am one of those Jesus loving freaks and I have never bombarded anyone, that I know of. People of faith are just like you and me, and we are everywhere! HAHAHA .
You have nothing to worry about except the ongoing stressors in your life if you choose to NOT
GIVE THEM TO GOD.
Besides being kind is good for your soul, even doing little things for people even strangers will warm your heart, kindness, thoughtfulness, giving and sharing will feed you inside, you will grow as a person. Some kind things you can do without anyone else even knowing, the point is you know and God knows and that is what matters, donating to food banks or shelters, supporting a child in another country, volunteering at animal shelters or helping seniors. The options are endless. I promise you will get something out of every little thing you do. This is all your own and all about your path. No matter what is going on in your life, no support of family, difficult job, financial stress, poor health, relationship issues. Give it to God, why not?
I pray for you to be happy and fulfilled, to be healthy and to have faith and be blessed.
I will pray for you to have faith💖
